Leading Real Madrid narrowly defeated Granada 2-1 to achieve
their ninth consecutive victory in the Spanish Primera Liga,
Monday, and it is on the cusp of crowning the title.
Zinedine Zidane’s team regained the four points difference with
Barcelona, who finished second.
Real Madrid will secure their first title since 2017 if they beat
Villarreal next Thursday, or if they beat Leganes in the last round.
Real Madrid defender Verlan Mende led the first goal after he
fired a massive shot from a narrow angle in the tenth minute,
and his teammate, top scorer Karim Benzema added the second
goal in the 16th minute.
Darwin Machees narrowed the lead to Granada in the 50th
minute, while Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois starred and
saved an attempt by striker Antoninen near the end, as captain
Sergio Ramos struck off Ramon Aziz’s shot from the goal line
in the final moments.
