Celta advanced early with Russian striker Fedor Smolov, but Real Madrid responded via Toni Kroos in the 52nd minute before captain Sergio Ramos put Zidane ahead in the 65th minute from a penalty kick.
The tie put an end to five consecutive victories Real Madrid achieved in the league and its score became 53 points from 24 games, one point ahead of second-placed Barcelona who defeated Getafe 2-1, Saturday.
Celta left the drop zone, ahead of 17th in the standings.
