Belgian Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and
fellow Brazilian defender Marcelo are suffering from a
muscle injury and are suspicious of their participation in
the match against Manchester City in the second leg of
the Champions League final scheduled for this 17th.
And the club of the Spanish capital issued a statement
confirming that it was revealed to the medical device in
the club that Marcelo had “a muscle tear at the left thigh
level”, while Courtois suffered a “tear at the left ureter
level”.
The club did not indicate the length of the players
’absence from the stadiums, but the Spanish newspapers
have confirmed that they may not play the match against
Manchester City next week in the Champions League, as
the Spanish team lags 1-2 after falling to its home
ground.
French Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane can fill the
gap in Marcelo’s absence by involving his compatriot
Benjamin Mende, using the services of French
goalkeeper Alphonse Ariola instead of Courtois between
the three boards.
The absence of Belgian winger Aiden Hazard, who
underwent ankle surgery in the United States on the fifth
of this month, continues.
