Real Madrid showed its position as a champion of the Spanish Football League, with a convincing 2-0
victory over Atletico Madrid, on Saturday, to stop the unbeaten record of its neighbor since
the beginning of the current season.
Real Madrid started the game strongly and deserved the lead after a quarter of an hour, when
Casemiro jumped higher than everyone else, turning a corner kick into the goal. Atletico trailed for
the first time in 11 league matches this season.
Dani Carvajal strengthened the lead of Zinedine Zidane’s team in the 63rd minute, with a powerful
shot from the edge of the penalty area bounced off the post and hit the back of goalkeeper Jan Oblak
into the net.
Real was the better side, while Atletico performed modestly and did not hit any ball in the first half,
and his first shot on goal came in the 80th minute, as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois banished
Saul Niguez’s attempt.
