Real Sociedad missed the opportunity to regain the lead from Atletico Madrid by falling into
a goalless draw against Alaves in the twelfth stage of the Spanish Football League.
Sociedad settled with one point to raise its tally to 25 points, one point behind the capital’s team,
which won Saturday over Valladolid, with two clear goals, knowing that Atletico played two fewer
matches as well, and thus can move away from more and more in the lead.
It is the second tie for Sociedad after Villarreal 1-1 in the last stage.
Although Alaves player Rodrigo Andres Battaglia was sent off in the 61st minute with a red card directly,
Sociedad was unable to take advantage of the numerical shortfall in the ranks of his opponent and settled
with one point.
Villarreal, in turn, stumbled in front of its home side Che by the same result, wasting the opportunity to
consolidate its third position.
Villarreal raised its score to 21 points, five points behind Atletico, while El Che reached 14th point in tenth place.
Betis, on the other hand, increased Osasuna’s ordeals and added a new loss to his record, which placed
him among the teams threatened with relegation to the second division by freezing his score at 11 points
in the eighteenth place, three points behind Huesca, the last-placed winner who missed his first wins
by tying with his host Granada (3- 3) 3), after he was ahead until the 88th minute (3-1).
Osasuna did not taste the taste of victory in his last five matches, including today’s match, as he lost four times
and drew in the fifth.
Real Betis rose to eighth place with 15 points, their first win after three defeats.
Betis’ target was followed by Borja Iglesias (76) and Juan Miranda (90 + 1).
In the Granada and Huesca match, Colombian Luis Javier Suarez (43), Georgi Molina (88),
and German Sanchez (90) scored for the first, Mikel Rico (21), Borja Garcia (49) and Japanese Shinji Okazaki
(82) for the second.
The phase ends on Monday, with Eibar and Valencia remaining.
