River Plate announced that it refuses to play its next
match in the Argentine Cup against Atlético Tucuman,
due to “great risks to the health of his players,”
represented by the emerging “Corona” virus.
River Plate will host his opponent Tucuman, on
Saturday, at the “Monumental” stadium in the main cup
championship in Argentina.
However, with “Corona” symptoms appearing on one of
the team’s players, River Plate unilaterally decided to
close the club until further notice, and to refrain from any
matches.
It was not yet clear whether Tucuman would attend the
match as scheduled or not.
River Plate’s decision comes one day after the Argentine
government announced the cancellation of international
sporting events, due to take place in the country until the
end of this month.
