Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals from two penalties, to lead Juventus to a 3-0 victory over
Barcelona at Camp Nou, and to claim the top of Group G in the UEFA Champions League, Tuesday.
This is Ronaldo’s first match against Barcelona since his departure from Real Madrid in 2018,
and it did not take long for the Portuguese scorer to make his mark.
Ronaldo hit a powerful ball early, saved by Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen,
before shaking the net from a penalty kick in the 13th minute after he was mistaken in the area
by defender Ronald Araujo.
Juventus defender Danilo dismissed a Barcelona attempt before Stone McKinney added the second
goal with a superb direct shot, to lead the Italian champion 2-0 and dominate the match after seven minutes.
The Portuguese forward scored his second goal from the penalty spot for a handball against Barcelona
defender Climo Lenglet after the break seven minutes.
Things almost got worse for Barcelona a quarter of an hour before the end, when Juventus defender Leonardo
Bonucci put the ball into the net, but the video assistant referee canceled the goal due to offside.
The result will put more pressure on Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman, with the team losing two consecutive
matches for the first time since taking office.
Before the match, the two teams had qualified for the knock-out rounds, but Juventus grabbed the lead
with 15 points due to the advantage in the direct confrontation between the two clubs.
