Tottenham legend: Salah cannot be left for free
The English star and former Tottenham player, Jimmy O’Hara, criticized Liverpool’s
approach to the issue of renewing the contract of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah,
calling for work to find a quick solution to this problem.
O’Hara said in an interview with “Talk Sport” website, that Liverpool should reconcile with Salah
and work to secure his financial requests, especially after Sadio Mane’s departure for Bayern Munich.
He added: “Liverpool earned money from the sale of Mane, so Liverpool must renew for Salah,
whatever his financial request,” according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.
And he continued, “Is it acceptable to let Salah leave Liverpool for free? The Reds’ management
succeeded in managing the club’s financial affairs well, and now they have to prove this with
the Egyptian star.”
Reports had talked about Salah’s condition to stay in Liverpool, which is a weekly salary of
400,000 pounds.
Salah scored 31 goals in 51 games he played in all competitions with Liverpool last year,
and contributed 16 assists.
Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell denied that Liverpool had improved its negotiating
position with Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, by signing Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
In an interview with Football Insider, Campbell said that Mohamed Salah is still strong in talks
to renew his contract with Liverpool.
Negotiations between Salah and the “Reds” are still ongoing, and reports say that communicating
an agreement regarding the Egyptian player’s wages is the obstacle that prevents him from signing
a new contract.
In response to a report by the British newspaper “Mirror”, which indicated that Liverpool’s big
contracts this year with Nunez and Diaz, the English club gave the English club a source of strength
in talks with Salah, Campbell said: “Salah has a strong influence that he derives from the fans who love
him and admire his performance.”
As Some reports claim that Salah may be on his way out of Anfield this summer, for 60 million pounds,
heading to Real Madrid.
