Manchester United and Chelsea players were stunned, after
defender Eric Bailey fell to the ground, with a header that had
left the match on a respirator.
Manchester United defender Eric Bailey had a serious head
injury and left the stadium on a stretcher, wearing an oxygen
mask, during the FA Cup semi-final.
Bayley had hit the head of Chelsea defender Curt Zuma before,
but returned to resume the match.
But he received a heavy blow to the head after a fierce fusion
with teammate Harry Maguire to drive the ball out in front of
blues striker Olivier Giroud, who fell on the impact of the
Ivorian defender on the ground.
After initial exams, doctors allowed Maguire to continue
playing with a bandage around his head.
But Bailey remained lying on the ground for about 5 minutes,
prompting ambulance teams to step in to take the player on a
stretcher to the hospital with the help of ventilators.
