A Japanese laboratory specializing in hardware dismantling
revealed the actual cost of producing the two new phones of
the American company, “Apple”, “iPhone 12” and “Pro” model.
The laboratory “Fomalhaut Techno Solutions” said that the production
cost of the “iPhone 12” smartphone does not exceed $ 373,
while the production cost of the “iPhone Pro” does not exceed $ 406.
IPhone 12 is currently sold in the market at a starting price of $ 829,
compared to $ 999 for the “Pro” model.
In terms of individual component costs, the higher cost of the
Qualcomm X55 5G, which is $ 90 per phone, followed by OLED
screens produced by Korean competitor Samsung, which is
estimated at $ 70.
The cost of producing the A14 Bionic processor is about $ 40,
while the cost of the random access memory (RAM) is about
$ 12.8 per phone.
The laboratory published a drawing showing the source of each
supplier of the phone’s components, as South Korea accounts for
26.8 percent of all components for the modern Apple phones,
followed by the United States with 21.9 percent, and then Japan
by 13.6 percent.
It is noteworthy that the American giant is still assembling the
majority of its phones in China.
