The bad news continues for Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp and the fans of
the team, the latest of which is captain Jordan Henderson’s injury
during the meeting between England and Belgium in the European
Nations League, on Sunday.
England coach Gareth Southgate announced that Henderson
substituted between the two halves of the match due to “difficulties”,
without providing additional details, leaving the door open to
all possibilities.
“Jordan faced some difficulties between the two halves and felt
unable to complete the match. We have to assess his condition
when we come back,” Southgate said after the match, which ended
with a 2-0 victory for Belgium.
Henderson’s loss for some time will be a new blow for the English Premier
League champions, one day after news that left-back Andy Robertson
suffered a hamstring injury during Scotland’s victory over Serbia, Thursday.
Liverpool already misses the boulder of defense, Virgil van Dyck
and his teammates at the back, Joe Gomez and Internet Alexander-Arnold,
due to various injuries, which means that he may play the Leicester City
match in the league after the international break without any of
his main defenders.
However, Liverpool’s absence is not limited to the defense line,
as attacking star Mohamed Salah suffers from the emerging coronavirus
and is subject to isolation in Egypt, as well as injury to midfielders
Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, while Fabinho
is expected to return in front of Leicester.
Liverpool is currently third in the Premier League table with 17 points,
the same balance held by second-placed Tottenham Hotspur, one point
ahead of leaders Leicester.
