The Spanish League has issued an urgent statement
announcing the return of training for Spanish clubs,
in preparation for the forthcoming return to league
competitions.
The La Liga website, La Liga, said that the league
clubs will return to training this week, after obtaining
the approval of the Ministry of Health in Spain.
The clubs will start with individual exercises for
the players, with extensive examinations for all,
before starting the second stage, which is group training.
The League said that the return of training is the first
stage of replaying football in Spain, with the league
competitions returning in June.
“This crisis has had a profound impact on all of us.
The return of football is a sign that society is moving
towards a new normal. It will also restore the element
of life that people know and love in Spain and around
the world,” said Javier Tepas, president of the League.
He added: “The health of people is of the utmost
importance, so we have a comprehensive protocol
to protect the health of all concerned and we are working
to re-launch the League. Conditions are unprecedented,
but we hope to start playing again in June and end
the season 19/20 this summer.”
The launch of the league again in June will mean that
it ends in August.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona is the league leader,
two points behind its rivals Real Madrid, with
11 rounds remaining at the end of the tournament
