Spanish press reports revealed, on Monday, the name of the new striker, who Barcelona settled for, to fill the gap that he suffers from in his attack line after Luis Suarez and Othmane Dembele were injured.
The medical committee of the Spanish League and the Spanish Football Federation agreed to the request of “Alblograna” to sign a new striker, after Dembele was diagnosed, and to confirm his absence for 6 months after undergoing urgent surgery on the right biceps in the right thigh, according to the AS Spanish newspaper.
According to the rules for the Spanish football rules, any team can make one deal after the registration period is closed, in case one of the players is injured and his absence period reaches about 6 months, provided that this is done within only a month of his injury.
Regarding the player who will join the ranks of the “Catalan” club, the newspaper “Mondeo Deportivo” pointed out that he is the Danish Martin Braithwaite, the player of Leganes.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Barcelona officials have entered into negotiations with a number of distinguished players in the center of the spearhead in the past days.
However, their final decision was in favor of Braithwaite, due to his strong technical and physical capabilities, and the club’s technical management seeing him as a striker able to make up for the absence of Suarez and Dembele.
It is worth noting that Braithwaite (28 years) is linked to a contract with his club Leganes, which imposes a penalty clause of 20 million euros if he decides to leave the team led by Javier Aguirre.
