An Italian journalist dawned a big surprise Sunday, revealing
that Juventus had planned to get rid of star Cristiano Ronaldo
next summer, in a financial move to get rid of the Portuguese
star’s high expenses.
According to Italian journalist Romeo Agresti and the Spanish
newspaper “Sport”, Juventus plans to offer Ronaldo for sale next
summer, before his contract with the team expires.
The “Old Lady” team is studying Ronaldo for sale in the
summer of 2021, hoping to recover some of the 100 million
euros that the club spent on contracting with him in the summer
of 2018 from Real Madrid.
In addition, Juventus wants to get rid of the salary expenses of
its high star, which exceeds 30 million euros, according to the
newspaper “Sport”.
Juventus journalist Agreste noted that the Italian champion
considers keeping Ronaldo another year at great risk, especially
since the Portuguese star is now 35 years old.
The “Don” contract extends to the summer of 2022, but it seems
that Juventus is about its orientation last summer, when it
contracted with young coach Andrea Pirlo, in a step that
represented the start of the process of “rebuilding” and relying
on youth, which differs from the team’s plan when he
contracted with Ronaldo, as The first goal was to achieve the
Champions League within a few years, and to benefit from
Ronaldo’s European experience.
Ronaldo failed to lead Juventus to European glory, and the team
was disappointedly eliminated from the quarter-finals in 2019,
and from the round of 16 in 2020.
Ronaldo will be 36 years old in the summer of 2021, and he may
be able to make a final European experience, thanks to his
fitness and high physical ability.
