Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has caused a lot of
controversies, after he violated domestic quarantine
measures to stop the spread of the new Coronavirus,
while he was in his hometown, Madeira Island.
The Juventus striker had left Italy and returned to his
hometown in Portugal weeks ago after it was discovered
that a colleague of the Italian team had been infected
with the Coronavirus, where he had subjected himself
and his family to a quarantine.
But many residents of Madeira Island and pioneers of
social networking sites expressed their displeasure after
the spread of pictures of the former Spanish star Real
Madrid, as he trained at the stadium of Deportivo
Nacional in Madeira, violating the rules of stone.
The 35-year-old Ronaldo’s irresponsible behavior
seemed to put the island’s authorities in embarrassment,
causing her to comment on the incident.
After the photos spread, the health consultant in Madeira
Pedro Ramos held a press conference to explain the
official position on Ronaldo’s behavior, while calling on
the authorities to commit to staying at home to limit the
spread of the epidemic.
In his remarks, Ramos stressed that Cristiano “does not
have permission to train on the field.”
And he added: “Ronaldo has the right to training as long
as he respects the rules like all citizens, and there is no
privilege for anyone,” according to the British
newspaper “Sun”.
He continued: “The best (formerly) player in the world
should use his image to set a good example for others,
but he seems to have performed a few minutes of
training, and therefore there was no disaster in the
world.”
However, he added, “We should not say that this was a
trivial matter.”
