The coastal star sacked Garrido 4 months after his appointment

The coastal star sacked Garrido 4 months after his appointment

Less than 4 months after his appointment, Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel Club announced on Saturday that it had terminated the contract with Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido “by mutual consent” because of “a reduced level of the team.”

Tariq Al-Majrisi, the club’s media official, told France Presse that “the contract was terminated by mutual consent with Coach Garrido,” and that the assistant coach, Imad Bin Younis, supervise the team while awaiting the appointment of a new coach.

The coastal star faces Morocco’s Wydad in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League on February 28th.

Garrido wrote on his page on “Instagram”: “Today we reached an agreement with the coastal club Al-Najm to end my career as a coach. Unfortunately, the conditions for continuing our work together did not materialize. Things did not go as we wanted or planned for. I am satisfied with the team’s ranking in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Thank you, the coaches, the president, the board of directors and the fans, and wish them all the best in the future. ”

On November 19, the club announced that it had signed a contract with Garrido until June 2021 to succeed Fawzi Benzarti, who was separated by mutual consent in late September.

The team manager explained in a joint press conference with the coach at the time, “Among the factors that favored this technician was his policy of relying on the club’s youth as was the case in Spain’s Villarreal team,” in addition to “his knowledge of the characteristics of African football by supervising the training of Al-Ahly and please. Moroccan Oval. ”

It is noteworthy that Garrido (50 years) has a significant experience in the training world, led by several European, African and Asian teams, such as Villarreal, Real Betis, Spain, Club Bruges, Al-Ahly, Al-Raja oval, Saudi agreement, and Al Ain, UAE.

Garrido won the African Confederation Cup twice, the first with Al-Ahly in 2014, and the second with Raja Casablanca in 2018, and led Al-Ahly to the crowning of the Egyptian Super Cup in 2014, and he carried the Moroccan Cup with Raja in 2017.

The coastal star separated from Bizerte after losing the Arab Clubs Championship the day after losing to its Jordanian youth team Jordan 0-1, in the second leg of the 32nd round, after losing to it in the first leg 1-2.
