After the majority of the countries of the world
suspended their domestic leagues, the Belgian League
became the first championship in Europe, and perhaps in
the world, to announce its champion.
Bruges club has been crowned champion of the Belgian
league, after the cancellation of the remaining
competitions this season, Thursday, due to the outbreak
of the Corona virus.
Bruges was leading the league by 15 points, one round
before the start of the final stage of the league, which
takes place with the participation of the first 6 teams.
Bruges came second last season to replace Racing Genk,
the seventh-placed champion when the competition
stopped last month due to the spread of the Coruna virus.
The decision of the League of Professionals must be
ratified during the meeting of 24 clubs from the first two
degrees in the league, but 17 clubs have already called
to cancel the current season.
