It was remarkable that the slogan “Black lives matter” was
added to the shirts of players in the Premier League football
“Premier League” at the start of the summer season, in
solidarity with anti-racism protests around the world.
However, the slogan “Black lives is important” will not appear
on the shirts of players in the Premier League with the
resumption of competitions after a few days, as it will be
replaced by the slogan “No to racism.”
The Premier League confirmed that the players and referees will
wear shirts bearing the slogan “No to Racism” for the entire new
season 2020-2021 instead of the slogan “Black lives matter.”
“Clubs, players and match officials have demonstrated a long-
standing commitment to tackling discrimination,” said Richard
Masters, chief executive of the Premier League.
He added, “The players had a strong voice in this matter, which
is what we saw last season. We have continued to speak and
listen to the players on this issue, and we will support them and
continue to affirm the Premier League’s stance against racism.”
He continued: “Discrimination in any form and in any place is
totally unacceptable, and there is no room for racism that makes
our position zero tolerance. We will not stand idly by on this
important issue and we will continue to work with our clubs,
players and partners to address all biased behaviors.”
