The Spanish Football Association president revealed the
expected date of the return of the European leagues,
after stopping them due to the outbreak of the new
Coruna virus, causing controversy over whether the date
was “reasonable”.
European football championships have decided to
suspend their matches, with two months remaining until
the end of the competition, due to the spread of the virus
in Europe.
The Spanish league president, “La Liga”, Javier Tipas,
who works as a member of the European Football
Association, said that the European leagues are seeking
to return to competitions in mid-May.
“As far as the status quo is concerned, we believe that we
can complete the league competitions in Europe in mid-
May, and if conditions permit, we can bring the date
closer,” said Tebas.
The European Football Association (UEFA) has set June
30, to end the football season in Europe, which means
the season has to be completed in May.
He added: “We must now set the date for the start of the
late next season, then calculate the date for the
completion of the current season, taking into account the
date of the start of the next season.”
Tepas’s comments about the start of the mid-May season
were contrary to expectations, especially with the
increase in the number of cases of Coronavirus in various
parts of Europe.
Expectations seem completely “unrealistic” especially for
the Italian league “Seri A”, which remains in its
competitions 14 rounds, while cases of Corona hit world
records in the country.
