Everton striker Richarlison apologized to Liverpool midfielder
Thiago Alcantara for being rough during a confrontation
between them just before the end of the two teams’ match in the
Premier League on Saturday, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Although Alcantara get up and return to play after Richarlison
sent off and participated in preparing a late goal for his
team, scored by Jordan Henderson before canceled, but
was found later that he had been injured.
“Everyone who knows my background knows that I have never
been a violent player,” Richarlison said in a statement.
The Brazilian player added, “I did not intend to harm Tiago. I
have already sent him a letter of apology and I am doing this in
public as well. I hope he was not injured and everything is fine.”
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dyck knocked out early due
to injury, after clashing with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Henderson said England goalkeeper Beckford was sorry for
what happened, although he had not suffered any punishment.
“Jordan came and apologized to me after the match, and asked
me to inform Virgil about it,” Henderson said in televised
comments after the match.
