The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that the
management of the Barcelona team met, on Friday,
remotely, with the aim of finding solutions that help
alleviate the effects of the Corona virus on the club,
including asking for help from the players.
“Marca” explained that the Catalan team officials
expressed their concern about the millions of euros that
will be lost by the club’s treasury, after the decision to
suspend the Spanish League and the Champions League
for fear of the repercussions of “Covid-19”.
She added: “All indications are that the Barcelona
administration will ask its players to help the club
financially to overcome this crisis.”
Barcelona has spent 61 million euros this season on new
contracts, while about 507 million euros are spent on
players ’wages, in addition to 135 million euros to pay
off debts.
“Marca” said that the club’s financial treasury would be
severely damaged after the losses it would incur due to
the suspension of all matches.
It is noteworthy that Coruna killed more than a thousand
people in Spain, while the injuries there approached 20
thousand.
