The Fiorentina and Turin presidents confirmed in two
interviews that they believed the Serie A football club
would likely not be completed due to the outbreak of the
Coruna virus.
“Let’s first think about the health and safety of people
and then football comes,” Fiorentina’s owner, Rocco
Comsio, told the official Ray Network in a radio
interview.
“We will see the possibility of returning to training, but
there is a high possibility that the championship will not
be completed.”
His club counterpart, Urbano Cairo, said that even if the
teams resumed training in May, there would be no time
to complete the competition.
“This means resuming the training at the end of May and
then resuming the matches in June and playing in July
and August,” he said in another radio interview with Ray.
“Then everyone will have a rest for a month in addition
to another month of training and the new season will not
start until November. I think it is a difficult scenario to
verify.”
He expressed his refusal to give the title to the league
leader.
He said: “I reject this proposal because the championship
is not over yet and there are three teams competing for
the lead.”
Juventus top the standings with 63 points from 26 games,
one ahead of Lazio, and nine points behind Inter Milan
who played 25 games.
