Mohamed Salah scored a goal and set up another to help to defend champions, Liverpool
win 4-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League.
Wolverhampton captain Connor Cody, who started his career in Liverpool’s academy,
missed across to reach Salah and scored the first goal with a powerful shot from close range
in the 24th minute.
Cody thought he had won a penalty before the video assistant referee intervened because
Sadio Mane did not cause the Wolverhampton defender to fall.
Jorginho Wijnaldum added the second goal with an amazing shot from outside the penalty area
in the 59th minute, then Joel Matip made it 3-0 with a header from close range after a neat
cross pass from Salah.
Wolverhampton’s Nelson Semedo scored the fourth goal by mistake in front of nearly 2,000 spectators at Anfield.
Liverpool returned to second place in the league with 24 points and a goal difference from leaders
Tottenham Hotspur, who beat Arsenal 2-0 at the North London summit also today.
Wolverhampton is in tenth place with 17 points.
