Edinson Cavani’s hopes of making his debut for Manchester
United against his former club Paris Saint-Germain in the
Champions League have evaporated after the Uruguay striker
was excluded from the squad traveling to France.
United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the absence of
Cavani, as well as captain Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood,
Eric Bailey and Jesse Lingard from the squad traveling to the
French capital for the first match in the group stage on Tuesday.
Solskjaer said Cavani still needed more time to increase his
fitness rates while Magwaiyor suffered a minor injury.
“We hope the players will not be absent for a long time. Edinson
needs more time to train before he is likely to push him against
Chelsea,” he told a news conference.
He continued by saying, “I hope Harry, Eric and Mason will
also join the match, but I am not sure of that.”
