Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has given hope to
the country’s football fans and fans that the tournament,
which has tens of millions of followers around the world,
can resume.
Sanchez said that professional football players in the
country can return to training starting next week.
The largest official in Spain revealed a 4-stage plan to lift
the general isolation measures imposed in the country,
to control one of the worst outbreaks of the Coronavirus
emerging in the world, to return to normalcy by the end
of June.
Players can return to individual exercises starting next
Monday, and they can train together in small groups a
week later within the plan.
“Professional athletes can return to training alone,
starting May 4 in the first stage,” Sanchez said in
a televised speech.
He added that the lifting of strict procedures will differ
from one region to another, based on factors such as
the rate of development of infection, the number of
intensive care beds available, and the extent to which
the regions comply with the rules of social separation.
In the next stage, which may begin on May 11th, training
will be permitted in small groups.
Spanish football has been stalled since the tenth of
March, but intending to return life to normal by the end
of June, the Prime Minister gave hope for the resumption
of the League, which the President of his association
reiterated today his desire to complete the season.
“Football in Spain is an important industry that we need
to reactivate. I don’t understand how there will be risks
playing football behind closed doors,” Javier Tepas,
president of the First Division League, said in
a statement.
