A number of Premier League fans have questioned the
possibility of Stephen Gerrard Leoergen Klopp as Liverpool
coach, after the current coach of the Scottish Rangers, insisted
that he would return to the Reds as a “coach only”.
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, Gerrard is described
as “the favorite candidate” in Anfield to succeed Klopp, noting
that the 39-year-old coach knows he must be “at the level” to
achieve this goal.
In his statement to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, Stephen
Gerrard said, “I understand the reason because I have been a
leader for a long time and that a large part of the fan base will
want to return to the club, but I know that you should be good
enough. The owners must think you are the right man. “.
“Let’s say Club wins the Premier League and the Champions
League and goes because he feels he can’t do more. They will
not choose me if I am the best candidate out of twenty,” he added.
“If I get the chance in Liverpool, I want to be ready.”
He played the Reds legend for Liverpool for 17 years, returned as a
youth coach in 2017. After that, he became the coach of the
Rangers in the 2018/19 season and led the Scottish giants to
their first win over their rival Celtic since 2012.
And Klopp has previously praised the level of Gerrard, saying
he is the person worthy of his future successor to be the head of
the Reds.
