Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale asked not to be in the squad for
the UEFA Champions League trip to Manchester City, coach
Zinedine Zidane said.
And Bale became marginal in the formation of the Spanish team
after his fall from Zidane’s accounts.
“It was a personal conversation I had with him. He preferred not
to play. The rest remains between me and him, but he said he
did not want to play,” Zidane added.
The Welsh international, 31, last played for Real Madrid on June 24.
Real Madrid is trying to recover from a 2-1 loss to Manchester
City in the first leg that the two teams fought in February in
the round of 16, which was postponed due to the outbreak of
the new Corona virus “Covid-19”.
Bale did not appear in the team’s last 7 league matches, as
he watched from the bench, his team’s performance as it beat
Barcelona to win the title.
Bale scored more than 100 goals for the Spanish club since
arriving in a record deal in 2013, but he swallowed his worst
seasons with the team, scoring just 3 goals in all competitions.
The Welsh player has a contract until 2022, and he was close to
moving to the Chinese League in a big deal last year, before
the deal failed at the last moment.
Since then, fans have divided opinions about Bale, with some fans showing their anger, which they describe as “the Welsh player’s lack of commitment to the club.”
His repeated injuries caused the fans to become uncomfortable, while his agent said he would not leave the club, despite leaving the coach Zinedine Zidane’s accounts.
