French coach Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid’s coach, has confirmed that he is not afraid of losing
his position if the team fails to qualify for the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
The 13-time European champion, who has never left the group stage, hosts Group B leaders Borussia
Moenchengladbach, Wednesday, and needs to win to qualify.
According to media reports, Zidane will lose his position if Real Madrid fails to qualify for the Round of 16,
but Zizou insists that his only focus is on getting the three points more than thinking about his future.
“I don’t think of anything other than winning,” Zidane told a news conference. “I focus on tomorrow’s game
and we know what we have to do. It will be a difficult game, but we want to leave the field and we are happy
with the performance.”
He added, “We know exactly where the team stands. We want to get 3 points to lead the group and that is all
we are thinking about right now. All matches are important, but there is a great opportunity to show our
capabilities as a team.”
Zidane will welcome the return of captain Sergio Ramos after the defender has missed his last 6 matches
due to injury.
Full-back Danny Carvajal also participated in the training fully on Tuesday after missing the last 4 matches
for the team, but striker Luka Jovic will be absent after a connective muscle injury.
