Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said on Friday that he has
the support of the players and the board of directors despite
a series of poor results recently.
Real has won only once in the last 5 matches in all competitions,
and local media reported that the French coach has only two chances
to keep his position, starting with the Seville confrontation in the league
on Saturday. But Zidane assured that everyone in the club supports him.
“I have the full support and backing of everyone in the club. The players
want to compete for titles and have always shown their support for me.
We know that we will go through this crisis together. When things do not go right,
the players are the first party that does not feel happy,” he said at a press conference.
“Of course, I am sad when we lose a match, but we know our capabilities.
We will fight and do everything we have for the club until my last day with the team,
” he added.
Real Madrid is fourth in the league, seven points behind leaders Real Sociedad.
The defending champion coincided with the absence of captain Sergio Ramos,
who missed his last 6 matches due to a muscle problem.
With an important Champions League match against Borussia Moenchengladbach
approaching on Wednesday, Zidane said he would not risk pushing Ramos.
“As we do with everyone, and in Ramos’ case, we will not take any chances.
If Ramos is ready enough, he will be with us,” the French coach said.
He added, “We do not want to aggravate the injury. We will see what we will do tomorrow.
I hope all of the injured will return as soon as possible.”
