The English Premier League clubs unanimously agreed,
on Wednesday, to return to group training, including
engagements between the players, so that the competition
could approach its activities after stopping for more than
two months due to the Corona virus pandemic.
“The teams will now be able to train as a group and carry
out the engagements while reducing unnecessary direct
contact,” Bayan said after the 20th Championship clubs
meeting. “The priority for the Premier League is the
health and safety of all participants.”
The clubs started last week the first phase of the
“resumption of activity” project, after agreeing to
training in small groups without combinations or
frictions, under strict health restrictions.
The announcement of the start of the second stage comes
after extensive tests by players and technical personnel,
in light of the presence of 8 positive cases, including
Adrian Mariaba, defender Watford ,
assistant coach Burnley.
All English Premier League matches have been
suspended since last March due to the global health
crisis, which has caused sports and other activities in
the world to stop.
Wednesday’s vote marks a major step towards the
completion of 92 Premier League matches this season.
The second stage allows for training of 10 players
together while easing restrictions imposed on players
during training, and allows for a rapprochement between
them.
The third stage will be a step closer to the usual exercises
in preparation for the matches.
The Premier League indicated that June 12 will be the
possible date for the resumption of the season.
