FIFA announced on Wednesday that the clubs in the five major leagues in Europe, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, are responsible for 71.8 percent of the money spent around the world during the January 2020 transfer period.
According to “FIFA”, the transfer window was open in 170 countries around the world last month, which is a record number, and 4108 international transfer deals were concluded.
Although only 14.1 percent of the total number of transfers was for the top five leagues, the costs they incurred represented 71.8 percent of the money spent around the world.
Clubs in England spent $ 298.2 million in transfers, the highest number in the world, followed by Germany ($ 206.1 million) and Italy ($ 126.7 million).

The top five leagues’ spending reached $ 824.6 million in January, just lower than January 2018 when $ 1.01 billion was spent.
Commenting on these figures, Emilio Garcia, the chief legal officer of “FIFA” said in a statement: “The spending of the five major leagues of clubs appears to be continuing in the overall growth path of the past years, and these clubs played a pivotal role in the global transfer market.”
He added: “FIFA must monitor and report on these activities and to provide greater transparency to the transfer system.”
