Ten Hag sings about Ronaldo.. ” In the end he got the reward.”
Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag praised Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring
in his team’s 3-0 victory over Moldova’s Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League last night,
saying the goal was a reward for the Portugal captain for his perseverance and strength of will.
Ronaldo trained alone this weekend and was left out of the squad during his
last Premier League match against Chelsea, last Saturday, after he refused
to participate as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur before that.
But he scored the net when he was enemy of the squad when he scored
the third and final goal for his team to win his team and ensure advancement
to the knockout stages.
About Ronaldo, Ten Hag said after the match: “He kept moving in order to be
in the right position. He didn’t give up. I think that’s what he has always done
throughout his career. That’s why he’s special.”
“In the end he got the reward. The pressure is always there and Ronaldo knows that.
He knows we have to face it. All the United players know that and all the top scorers
have to realize that every time to make sure they can do the job.”
He added: “Tonight again, he received the confirmation and will advance accordingly.
He is enthusiastic and plays with full force and is full of desire to score goals,
as many goals as possible. He has to work a lot and his team has to work a lot
in order to be in the right position.”
Ten Hag indicated that his decision to replace striker Anthony during the break
had nothing to do with the Brazilian’s missing a scoring opportunity.
